A student who comes to the Counseling Center receives a free initial consultation and individualized recommendations.

Getting Started with the Counseling Center

     1. First Contact

During regular business hours, call 660-543-4060 or stop by our office (Humphreys 131) to schedule your first appointment. You will be scheduled for a 30-50 minute initial consultation appointment with one of our clinicians.

     2. Initial Consultation

The day of your initial consultation appointment, you will fill out some paperwork that will help us understand your reasons for visiting our office. After the paperwork is complete, you will meet with one of our clinicians for a brief discussion. This discussion will help us asses the nature and urgency of your concerns, with the goal of providing you with individualized recommendations.

     3. Make a Plan

Recommendations may include Mental Fitness workshops, group therapy, brief services at the Counseling Center, counseling with an off campus provider, a medication evaluation, and/or other campus, community, or self-help resources.
